The oil has a high content of oleic acid. This is nothing quite exciting
about a plant oil, exciting is however, the content of palmitic,
stearic and behenic acid together with low content of arachidic and
gadoleic acid. This fatty acid profile makes moringa oil a predestined
oil for hair care and for pampering dry and damaged skin.
The relatively low iodine value (for a liquid oil) is an advantage for skin and hair care formulations. Moringa oil has a relatively low content of tocopherols (Ca. 295 ppm, with 125 ppm alpha- and 65 ppm Gamma-Tocopherol). The content of phytosterols is however quite noticeable (ca. 1000 ppm, with 480 ppm Beta-Sitosterol, 180 ppm Stigmasterol and 160 ppm Campesterol).
