Sacha-Inchi oil

Sacha-Inchi oil, organic, virgin, cold pressed INCI: Plukenetia Volubilis seed oil Saponification value:192-196 Iodine value:183-199 Known as sacha peanut or mountain peanut, Sacha-inchi is one of the richest plant sources for omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid respectively). Apart from that, the oil has a high content of tocopherols (>2000 ppm), mainly gamma- and delta-tocopherol that contribute to the oxidation stability despite the high iodine value and high content of poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Traditionally, the oil is used as food and as a cosmetic ingredient. Despite what some bloggers mention, the oil smells nutty but not fishy (just because fish oil is a source of omega-3 it doesn't mean all oils rich in omega-3 shall smell fishy). Known as a superfood, sacha-inchi oil is one of the most important and widely used vegan omega-3 sources.

It consists of ca. 90% Inulin and ca. 10% fructose. This is a prebiotic that supports skin's own microbiota and the growth of skin friendly and wanted bacteria and inhibits growth of unwanted and harmful pathogens. By adding a prebiotic to your products, you are not adding a single kind of bacteria to the product/skin (skin's microbiota contains more than 1000 different bacteria), you allow the skin to self-regulate itself based on the user's individual microbiome.Application: Prebiulin FOS is a white, hydrophilic powder. It is easily soluble in water. Add it to the water phase during the cool down (Max. heat tolerance is < 60°C for 8h). It survives a pH range between 4,3-10.0Apply it in all water containing hair, scalp and skin products such as shampoos, shower gels, micellar waters, toners, serums, emulsions and masks. In contrast to probiotics, prebiotics are not deactivated by the preservative system of the formulation. Sodium Citrate

Sodium Citrate

Sodium citrateCitric acid trisodium salt dihydrateINCI Name SODIUM CITRATECAS # 68-04-2 / 6132-04-3EC # 200-675-3Sodium citrate is the sodium salt of citric acid and is an edible, natural, chelating and buffering agent. Buffers are ingredients that maintain the pH stable and relatively constant. The pH would not change by addition of small acids or bases.Buffers are specially needed when working with a certain group of natural emulsifiers, the citrates such as Glyceryl Stearate citrate, polyglyceyl-x citrate, polyglyceryl-x stearate citrate and co.. With these emulsifiers, the pH of the lotions drops over time and it might lead to overall instability of the lotion. By buffering the lotion, the pH would remain constant. The most common buffers for cosmetics are sodium lactate/lactic acid (pH around 4.2), or sodium citrate (pH around 5).Sodium citrate is a water soluble white powder.Application:0.1-0.5% in the water phase. You can add it from the very beginning to the water phase or dissolve it in a small portion of water and add it during the cool down phase.

Sodium Lactate

Sodium Lactate

Sodium lactate, 60% solutionINCI: Sodium LactateCAS # 72-17-3 / 867-56-1EC # 200-772-0 / 212-762-3Sodium lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, is a natural humectant and moisturiser and is a part of our own NMF (natural moisturising factor). It is applied in cosmetic formulations for its moisturising functions and to adjust the pH (specially when buffering is needed). In certain cosmetic products, the pH of the product might change with time and this would lead to destabilization of some certain ingredients. This happens very often by applying urea or weak acid based emulsifiers and ingredients (citrate derivatives for example: glyceryl oleate citrate). In such cases you need to stabilize the pH with a buffering system (blending sodium lactate and lactic acid)Buffered solutions resist changes in pH upon addition of small amount of acids or bases. Our blood for instance is a buffered system and its pH would not easily change.Dosage: approximately 0,5-2,5% depending on the desired pH

Natural blend of gums, Ecocert certified and non-radiatedINCI Name: Acacia Senegal Gum (and) Xanthan Gum (from corn sugar, suitable for vegan formulations)Solagum™AX is a proprietary blend (Seppic) of acacia and xanthan gum, two of the most effective natural poly-sugars in cosmetics.Xanthan gum is an excellent emulsion stabiliser and thickening agent creating high viscosity and gel like (but no real gel structure) solutions. You can however easily blend Solagum™AX with other natural gums for a modified texture or desired viscosity.Quite easy to work with, Solagum™AX disperses easily in cold as well as hot water.Dosage:Emulsions and creams 0,1-0,5%Shampoo,shower gel, hair gel etc: 1,5-2,5%

Sucrose Stearate

INCI: Sucrose StearateCAS# 25168-73-4 / 37318-31-3HLB: Approx. 15Sucrose stearate is a very versatile natural emulsifier for a broad range of O/W emulsions. It could be applied in cold process, in warm process or in cold-warm process as a stand-alone emulsifier or blended (1-1.5%) with other emulsifiers to enhance stability and skin feel. It creates smooth and silky emulsions with no soapiness or greasiness. You can add Sucrose stearate into the water phase, into the oil phase or in a one pot process (blending oil and water phase from the very beginning). Adding sucrose stearate to the water phase creates emulsions with a slightly higher viscosity compared to emulsions where sucrose stearate is added to the oil phase.Application dosage: 18-20% (of oil phase). We recommend applying an emulsion stabilizer such as Solagum AX, sclerotium, acacia, konjak or LBG.Read more about sucrose stearate in our blog.
